I offer two different operating systems for each system I build. Fedora 11 x64 edition and Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition.
The most important issue is 64 bit. With a 64 bit operating system you have 64 data lanes of traffic instead of 32 data lanes of traffic. This doesn’t make the speed faster per se. It allows more data to be processed in the same time. All the systems I create are 64 bit compatible.
Vista is not my favorite OS. There are many shortcomings. People still prefer the devil they know versus the devil they don’t. Vista works well for this application.
Fedora 11 is an OS that’s time has come. It is very stable. It has better performance than any other OS. Gaming is the only compelling reason to continue to use a Microsoft OS. Anything and everything else can be done better with a Fedora OS. Kubuntu is a reasonable alternative but I prefer Fedora.
